In Designing the Mind, Ryan A. Bush introduces a powerful idea: your mind is not something you simply “have” — it’s something you can intentionally design. He calls this process psychitecture, the architecture of the psyche. Just like a building is constructed from beams, pillars, and blueprints, your thoughts, beliefs, and values form a mental structure. When parts of that structure are weak, outdated, or contradictory, you experience anxiety, procrastination, confusion, or internal conflict. The key is not to suppress emotions — it’s to redesign the structure underneath them.

Bush explains that emotions are not random. They’re responses to the beliefs you hold — often beliefs you’ve never examined. If you believe failure defines your worth, you’ll fear taking risks. If you believe success will isolate you, you’ll subconsciously sabotage growth. Many of our mental struggles come from hidden contradictions inside our belief system. Psychitecture teaches you how to surface those contradictions, question them, and replace them with more coherent, reality-aligned beliefs.

Another major theme is values. Most people inherit their values from culture, family, or circumstance without consciously choosing them. Bush argues that clearly defining your values is like installing load-bearing pillars in your mental structure. When your goals, identity, and daily actions align with chosen values, your mind becomes stable and resilient. Without that alignment, you feel scattered and reactive.

Ultimately, the book reframes personal development. It’s not about “finding yourself.” It’s about designing yourself. You are both the architect and the building. And if you’re willing to examine your mental blueprint, you can intentionally construct a mind that supports clarity, purpose, and long-term flourishing.

Pawns in the Game is a provocative exposé by former Canadian naval officer William Guy Carr, who presents a sweeping and conspiratorial interpretation of global history. Carr argues that world events—especially revolutions, economic collapses, and wars—have been deliberately orchestrated by a clandestine group of international financiers, secret societies, and ideological operatives working toward the establishment of a One World Government.

Central to Carr’s thesis is the idea that major wars in history were not spontaneous or inevitable, but were carefully engineered to destabilize nations, destroy traditional institutions, and push the world closer to centralized global control. He claims:

• World War I was used to dismantle monarchies (especially the Russian Empire), spread communism, and weaken national sovereignty.

• World War II further entrenched communism, led to the creation of the State of Israel, and birthed the United Nations, which Carr sees as a foundational step toward a global government.

• A Third World War, according to alleged long-term plans, would exploit tensions between political Zionism and the Islamic world to produce global chaos and justify the final push toward a unified world order.

Carr blames these developments on what he calls the Synagogue of Satan—a network of elite conspirators, including members of the Illuminati, Freemasons, and international banking families, who manipulate political ideologies like communism, fascism, and capitalism not as ends in themselves, but as means of control.

Throughout the book, Carr warns that the public are mere pawns in a grand geopolitical chess game, used and discarded by forces seeking total dominance. He views this as not just a political scheme, but a spiritual war between good and evil, urging listeners to awaken morally and resist being deceived by false promises of peace and progress.

While Pawns in the Game is influential in conspiracy theory circles, it has been widely criticized for its speculative claims, lack of credible evidence, and antisemitic undertones. Nevertheless, it remains a cornerstone text for those who believe that hidden powers shape world events behind the scenes.

Motivating Black Males to Achieve in School and in Life by Baruti K. Kafele is a powerful guide for educators aiming to improve outcomes for Black male students. Drawing from decades of experience as a teacher and principal, Kafele addresses the cultural, social, and psychological factors that impact the academic performance and self-perception of Black males. He argues that their challenges are not just academic but also tied to identity and societal influences, and that educators must approach their work with intention, empathy, and cultural understanding.

The book emphasizes the importance of self-reflection for educators, urging them to examine their own biases and teaching practices. Kafele outlines practical strategies for creating empowering learning environments, including mentorship programs, culturally relevant instruction, and strong student-teacher relationships. He highlights the need for schools to not only educate but also affirm the worth and potential of Black male students, helping them navigate societal pressures and see themselves as capable, valuable, and destined for success.

In this easy to read guide, Kafele offers both a challenge and a blueprint—asking educators to rethink how they engage with Black males, while providing tools to support their academic and personal growth. His message is clear: when Black males are inspired, affirmed, and understood, they can and will achieve greatness both in school and in life.

After reading this book, I have a much deeper understanding of the dark undertones of his music and him as a person. 

This is a MUST READ for anyone who likes his music and/or seeks to gain a better understanding of tumultuous effects of childhood trauma, etc...

The Developmental Psychology of the Black Child

In this book, the author delved deeply into the factors the influence the development of the black child from the prenatal stage thru adulthood. He describes the black experience in such a way that the reader can gain a deeper understanding of the community as a whole.

For example, he describes one major challenge that affects the development as “the frustration of the black existence”. This refers to all the opportunities withheld, obstacles faced and thwarted goal achievement that one attributes, whether real or not, to their being black. This frustration leads to a dependency, increased need for assimilation and a lack of desire to achieve anything outside of traditional “white” standards.

This idea actually struck a chord with me. When I created the GUILLA (Gifted Unique Individual Livin’ Life Accomplishin’) philosophy, it was built on the idea of inspiring people to reach beyond themselves and those perceived obstacles to accomplish more and be their best selves. This may have been fueled by my own internal need for motivation to pursue my dreams, tho. However, some people have adopted it with great results, whether consciously or unconsciously, but many have not for various reasons. So, the ideas he presented in this book really resonated with me.

All in all, this is a great book for parents raising a black child (mixed kids, too…lol), teachers who teach them, mental health professionals who treat them and anyone with a curiosity to learn more about the culture.
